Was Only a Matter of Time

We all knew that someone was going to try and make a tablet designed for portable gaming. Of course it was the most known brand in gaming accessories, look to pay $200 for the Razer logo. I also don't understand why someone would pay the estimated $750 for a tablet when they could just get a laptop. Aside from the fact that the Nike of the PC world is making it I am pretty happy to see how it turns out. Moving on to more important information.

You may see a lot of this,
You may see a lot of this,

What do we know so far?

Positives

The nice thing about this tablet is that it has a CPU so it will be able to play all current PC games with need for porting. It will also run off windows 8 which is just an added bonus to it being able to play almost any game I want. At first I was worried about how gaming would be but it has a controller on each side of it, each equipped with 4 buttons(1,2,3,4), a toggle, a trigger and a back button. There will be no shortage of controls. It also have quite a nice display with a 10.1" screen, 1280x800 resolution, 3 axis magnetometer, and a full screen multi-touch interface. This tablet will pack a punch with an incredible windows OS, display, and controller setup.

Negatives

The battery life on this tablet is a little sketchy and although it will still be portable the permanent controllers make it slightly more bulky than the standard tablet. How well certain games will play is also a little uncertain, the games that were tested seemed to play very well but those were Razer approved so who knows. The only other real flaw that people can see with this so far is the price, most likely it will be around $900. That really isn't too bad but it makes a laptop look a hell of a lot better.

Tech Specs

  • Hybrid PC interface
  • Intel Core i7
  • 10.1 1280x800 display
  • Full-screen user interface supporting multi-touch
  • 3-axis gyro, magnetometer, accelerometer
  • WiFi 802.11b/g/n
  • Dolby 7.1 surround sound
  • Force Feedback
  • Bluetooth 3.0

My overall Opinion

The potential of a device like this is incredibly and just this one specifically is quite impressive, but there will be a lot of kinks to work out. It looks no better than my laptop for gaming and my laptop probably costs less. That being said I will probably end up buying one just because it is awesome and who doesn't like nerdy stuff. And really the specs that Razer has revealed look pretty sweet. Windows 8 is going to be nice and the PC OS will be quite a change from android. As far as battery life I will just end up getting two batteries if I can and if I need to. Unfortunately I won't find out if I need a 2nd battery till Q4 of 2012.
